I`ve been in Switzerland for 5 days now and I`ve settled in quite quickly, mostly because I am lucky enough to have such a wonderful host family, the Schönenbergers. I`ve come to know that the Swiss live quite healthy lifestyles (which I`m not entirely used to), and I`ve grown to love it so much.
Every day, there has been some sort of exercise whether it be walking the dog or going for a bike ride, and with almost every meal, a salad is served. Also, I`ve only been drinking water since arriving which I am no stranger to. Right now, it`s Summer over here in Switzerland which can only mean one thing, BEAUTIFUL WEATHER.
One of my favourite things is the fact that because the sun sets so late over here, we`re able to have dinner in the garden with the sun still sky high. Tonight was one of those occasions.
We usually start by laying the table and getting everything ready, we then sit down with an appetizer (usually fruit, or a salad) while waiting on dinner, thereafter we move on to the main meal, with red wine or water with syrup (a homemade mixture consisting of the nectar from a local flower, it tastes amazing!) and then we relax and chat about the day we all had (my favourite part) - all of this while the Spanish Water Dog plays in the garden, waiting for someone to join her. On this particular evening, we started off with a Italien salad consisting of tomato and Mozzarella slices, drizzled with Balsamic Vinegar. As a main meal, we had grilled steak with various salads and garlic bread. To end off the evening, when it finally got dark, we grilled some marshmallows, such a lovely lovely evening.
